Welcome to
Bentley Counseling!
I'm Dana Maurice, a Dallas-born therapist helping individuals heal from trauma, anxiety, and relationship pain through safe, emotionally attuned care.
Whether you're carrying something heavy on the inside or feeling stuck in patterns you can't seem to shift, you don't have to navigate it alone.
Bentley Counseling is a family name, honoring my sweet grandma, someone who made me feel deeply loved, accepted, and celebrated. In many ways, those experiences helped shape my understanding of how healing can happen within emotionally safe, supportive relationships.
It is a privilege to be entrusted with my clients’ stories, and I would be honored to help you better understand yours.

Frequently Asked Questions
Don't let questions stop you from receiving the care you deserve!
What is trauma therapy, and how is it different from regular talk therapy?
Trauma therapy uses approaches specifically designed to help the brain and body process painful experiences — not just talk about them. At Bentley Counseling, I draw on EMDR (the SAFE Approach), attachment-focused work, and IFS to help reduce the emotional charge of past experiences so they no longer control your present. While traditional talk therapy is helpful, since trauma often lives in the nervous system, it benefits from approaches that address mind and body.
How do I know if I need therapy?
Many people assume trauma only refers to extreme or life-threatening events, but trauma can also develop through painful experiences that left you feeling unsafe, overwhelmed, emotionally alone, or stuck in survival mode for too long. If you feel emotionally overwhelmed, stuck in painful patterns, anxious, exhausted in your relationships, or disconnected from yourself — therapy can help. You do not have to be “falling apart” to begin therapy. Often, people reach out when they notice a deeper longing for peace, connection, or clarity beneath the surface.
What is EMDR therapy, and is it right for me?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that helps the brain reprocess painful or overwhelming experiences in a safe, grounded way. I'm trained in the SAFE Approach, which integrates somatic awareness and attachment-focused care — meaning we work at the pace your nervous system can handle, with a strong foundation of safety first. EMDR is often a strong fit for trauma, PTSD, anxiety, grief, and attachment wounds, though we'll discuss together whether it's the right approach for you.
Do you accept insurance?
Bentley Counseling is a private-pay practice. While I don't bill insurance directly, this allows treatment decisions to stay between us — not your insurance company. It also means no mental health diagnosis becomes part of your permanent medical record, no session caps, and complete confidentiality. A superbill can be provided for out-of-network reimbursement if your plan offers it, and HSA/FSA/Credit cards are accepted.
How do I schedule a free consultation?
You can book a free 15-minute consultation directly by clicking the schedule a consultation button below. This allows you to find a time that works best for your schedule. We'll talk briefly about what's bringing you in, answer any questions, and mak sure working together feels like the right fit before scheduling a first session.
How much does therapy cost at Bentley Counseling?
Individual sessions are $135 for a 45–50 minute session. Reduced-fee sliding scale spots may be available depending on need and availability — just ask during your consultation. Major credit cards, HSA, and FSA cards are accepted.
